Amber Alert
Canceled Thursday, March 27.


The Alert has been canceled and Dalton has been located. He was found dead Thursday in or along the Vermilion River, 17 hours after he was first reported missing from in front of his home.

Fishermen found the body of Dalton Mesarchik, a second-grader at Centennial School, about noon along the river about 2 1/2 miles south of the boy's Morrell Street home.

Police have not released the cause of death or any additional details although they are reportedly interviewing more than 30 registered sex offenders.

Dalton Mesarchik 7 Yrs., 4' 10", 65 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes, was abducted from in front of his home in Streator IL, USA on Wednesday the 26th at about 7:30 PM.

He was last seen wearing a black leather coat, a black wrestling shirt, blue jeans, and "Hot Wheels" tennis shoes.

Additional description information: The sides of Mesarchik`s hair are a little bit shorter than in this photo, and his bangs go down to his nose. His two front teeth are missing, and he has moles on the upper left side of lip, his right cheek, near the corner of his left eye where it meets the nose, under his left eye, and on left side of his neck.

According to Streator PD Dalton was tracked by dogs from the front porch of his home to the street where the scent was lost. This information caused them to issue the Amber Alert as an abduction although no information was available about the abductor.
