Amber Alert Canceled for 2 Iowa children

The LeMars Iowa Police Department and the state of Iowa canceled the Amber Alert on Sunday evening after both girls were located safe and the suspect was taken in to custody.

Chassa Norris, white female, 5 feet 9 with brown hair and hazel eyes weighing 116 pounds. She's 16 years of age.

Janet Haugen, 17 years of age, a white female, 5’9” with brown hair and hazel eyes weighing 130 pounds.

The suspect is John Nathan Hemmingsen, a 19-year old male. No further description is available. Hemmingsen is currently out on bond for a sexual assault charge.

The suspect vehicle is a green, 1997, two-door Pontiac Sunfire with Iowa license plates with the number 7-8-9-P-S-Q. Police said the car has distinctive markings on its side described as a pink flowery lightning strike.
