Personal hygiene holds a lot of importance. A bad hygiene can put you at the risk of many diseases and infections. “Today, still many women face acute problems with cleanliness and sanitation facilities. These problems take a heavy toll on the health conditions in the long run,” says Dr Rita Bakshi, Senior Gynaecologist and IVF Expert, International Fertility Centre.
Here, Dr Bakshi highlights some important tips to ensure that a proper hygiene is maintained. Foremost, each house must have one toilet at least. Women should avoid open defecation as they can suffer from diarrhoea, typhoid, cholera, hepatitis and so on. During menstruation days, women must use clean sanitary pads. These sanitary pads ensure safety and cleanliness during these days. They must be changed in every 6 hours to ensure cleanliness and keep rashes at bay. Sanitary napkins should be made available at school too. Consult your expert immediately in case of any health problems and avoid ignoring them. The evasion of reusing cloth while the women are menstruating. The use of the cloth embarks the presence of infections and several other threats in the vagina. Women must be provided with sex education and awareness about periods at the school level. This shall evade the hesitation amongst them and shall help them attain all the true facts about this. The details that they gather from peers about these processes of human life make them shy and doubtful about discussing them with their parents. Clean and safe water must be provided to them for drinking and usage. Contaminated water could be unsafe and harmful for consummation. Along with marinating a good personal hygiene , women must follow a well-balanced diet and ensure regular check-ups with the doctor.
