The Trump Presidency

The Trump Presidency

Sums it up nicely.
Yeah. This is a top-tier political cartoon IMO. Simple yet very pointed, without arrows and labels everywhere.
As if Trump has the patience to sit down and create something himself.
He’d more than likely go and take it from a child and claim it as his own as he has always wanted one.
absolutely, as children‘s scissors.
Free Gas European Mix Except for the scissors, which are not pointed, but the rounded “safety” variety. I wonder if that was intentional?
Didn’t know they let Trump use scissors.
That’s why Paul Ryan made it for him
That’s Clay Bennett, who won the 2002 Pulitzer. Terrific cartoonist; one of the best in the business.
And Scotch tape. Perfect.
All of the shit they accused Obama of doing, that he never did, they have done, plus a whole lot worse. I can’t wait to vote their asses out of the white house, out of congress and out of local government.
Rounded tip children‘s scissors. Checks out.
How weird, that a political humour sub should make fun of the president. It’s all a conspiracy.
At least they’re the preschool kind.
Yep. And the red tape dispenser is brilliant
That is a kid-safe scissor. Rounded ends. Source: pre-school teacher.
He’s not. People like to over dramatize things on reddit. They wanna pretend they are living in the climax of an epic movie where they are oppressed and they need to resist. It’s really cringy
Pence? Straight? I don’t think so.
No, I don’t think so. I cannot remember any President that has so blatantly attempted to publicly break the Constitution. Committed crimes? Yes. Deliberately attempt to twist the Constitution to gain more power? No. Even Nixon resigned rather than claim he could pardon himself.
i really wanna see them try and criticize the next dem president.
this sub should be called /sub/anti_trumpmemes
No, we can’t trust you with glue. You remember what happened last time, right? Tape will work just fine, Donnie.
Giving people cabinet positions solely to destroy their departments, proposing the end of due process for immigrants, claiming he could take over the investigation into himself at any time, the list is a mile long
He is. People with no moral boundaries like to rationalize shitty behavior on reddit. They wanna pretend everything is just fucking great and pretend that other presidents have lashed out against law enforcement, media, and intelligence communities like this before, or that it has any fucking merit because they’re children. No one has ever demanded loyalty like this. No one has ever been as spiteful as this, but because we can’t make them leave the casino for betting on a loser that has no respect for the rules, they keep pretending it’s us that are irrationally upset over a complete fucking man-baby throwing a hissy on the world stage because he represents them. He’s just like them and if the world judges Dumb Donald so poorly, what does it say about them? That they’re white trash? Probably.
Instant classic that will represent this era for years to come.
When you think about how long Trump has gone unchecked by the vestigial Tea Party now in Congress that told Obama “Don’t Tread on me with your affordable insurance – It kind of makes the Tea Party protests and the whole movement led by Starburst Sorting McCarthy and See No Child Rapist Jordan seem like one big, sick joke.
To be fair, a political cartoon making fun of the mayor of Buford, Wyoming really wouldn’t resonate with anyone outside that city. Trump is the President of the U.S. so his impact is felt everywhere.
They’ll come up with something dumb like mocking him for asking for Heinz over Hunt’s
I like this cartoon because it can be used for any president when the opposing party feels wronged
I mean, someone has to. Republicans are ready to get down on their knees and suck off Putin just because they’re afraid of who uses what bathroom. We’re the only Patriots left in the room.
“General Mattis, I glued my head to my shoulder…”
Tiny scissors for tiny hands!
That’s not an example
How is trump like a monarch/dictator?
Firing comey. Even suggesting that hes going to try to fire mueller. Keeping his business and using his position to bolster it. He’s the President so most of these can’t be against the law due to his position, but they are definitely abuses at minimum. And that’s just off the top of my head without even trying to think about it.
THE RED TAPE THE RED TAPE. WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!!!
*current qanon hysteria is red shoes. or color red.
Super Nintendo Mattis
Kind of? It’s irrevocably revealed them to be utter hypocrites. It kind of blows my mind. As much as the Republican Party has been shitty, there has been at least the PRETEXT of having morals and caring about the Constitution. Now they don’t even bother to pretend.
Lines are too straight. Pence cut it out for him.
It’s kinda hard to make fun of the people who aren’t in power?
Anybody have some examples of Trump abusing his power?
His corruption would fit that bill. When he uses his power to force the administration to spend money at his businesses. That would be a classical example of abuse of power.
Another example would be his twitter rants, because of his office. For example when he interfere in the business world singleing out companies like Amazon. There are laws that say that public officials may not promote or harm one private company over the other. This also touches upon the NBA issue, where he called upon the NBA to fire players for kneeling. There is a law which is supposed to prevent public officials from influencing employment situations based on politics. Though there is a debate if laws can be applied to the president. It’s still blatant abuse of his power.
Those are just a couple examples. There are others like the stripping of security clearance or the pardon for someone that was convicted of criminal contempt of court and so on and so forth. The list goes on and on and on.
and the pair of children scissors
The problem is that one side keeps painting a clear target on its back, by being completely and utterly stupid and idiotic.
Once the swamp is finally drained for real, and everything goes back to a state of normalcy, this sub will probably return to being center.
By the way that he ignores our country’s institutions, demands loyalty from elected officials and actively works against our DOJ when they investigate him.
The party in power will always receive the majority of people’s ire. It comes with the territory.
It did consistently, but due to cyrrent events and the fact that we are slowly uncovering the majority of the Republican party do anything to stay in power and make nore money, theres a lot more potential making fun of them as well as an actual need for people to be aware of it
Removing the security clearance of John Brennan for being critical of the administration is a very obvious and recent abuse of power.
For the hundredth time, alex jones’s 1st amendment rights were not violated. Private industries decided they didn’t want to broadcast his hate filled conspiracy theories. The 1st amendment protects citizens from the government not private companies.
Can we ban the 6 month old or less bot accounts from this sub, sheesh. I’m tired of other subreddits going “oh bots aren’t a problem on my sub, I’m not even going to have a report violation for bots/novelty accounts.” ITS political humor, jfc, of course the bots are here, just like they’re on /sub/gifs washing their accounts, making em look real, and what does any mod care about it? None. If we could ban em here, where they are washing accounts, we could get them before they spread their lies elsewhere.
Just make it outright against your subreddit rules to be a disinformation or discord bot, and let people report away.
He’s constantly spewing all kinds of authoritarian bullshit. Fortunately, he’s too incompetent to put any of it into action so we’re left with a pretty standard conservative regime with the added bonus of a strong religious tilt (courtesy of Mike pence) and a series of debilitating scandals caused by his own incompetence
this
Well, to be fair, one is clearly superior.
dEePsTaTe!!!!
Trump also is a laughing stock on an international scale.
So not only does the cheeto resonate with americans, but the rest of the world aswell
Well meh. Most presidents didnt consistantly brake the law and I think thats the joke here, trump slashes up the constitution to fit his wants and he somehow still has supporters
Edit: as someone below pointed out, theres no evidence to conclude he went against the constitution, but he has broken laws such as lying directly to the people.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2018/08/01/president-trump-has-made-4229-fals…
ITT: Cringeworthy, salty red hat replies.
Orng fan mad
He consistently attacks the first Amendment, misuses his power to attack political opponents. He’s basically following the Putin playbook for Propaganda. Think it’s more the commentary is he’s compromising american values and tradition to basically try and make himself a king. But he’s no more a king or a leader than a child with a paper crown.
First off: Alex Jones never had his equipment confiscated and he wasn’t jailed. His speech is still free even if it’s not on FB and to suggest otherwise is bullshit.
Secondly: It’s weird that Trump himself doesn’t even come up when right-wingers are having a tantrum about being called names from “liberals/leftists.”
It makes me think your support of an all-caps-Tweeting jackass is a way to punish those who called you names. I.e. it’s less a political ethos and more a way for you to crow without admitting a thing. Am I wrong?
Not Paul. We’d see where his spine went if that was the case.
Don’t forget revoking the security clearances of anyone that hurt his pwecious fee-fees in the IC.
If this merits that, so should most of political reddit and the internet because everyone is so outraged that hes still in office it’s all we can think about
Every time he’s attacked the first amendment and worldwide media. Every time he’s followed KGB propaganda playbook. More this is saying not that Trump is a king, but that Trump thinks he’s a king. And he’ll gladly destroy american values to make himself feel more like a king.
Do you live in a country where a paper crown makes you a king?
The current Tea Party movement has been a ‘joke’ since it was created by a couple wealthy brothers who have a history of hiding political manipulation behind paid groups propped up to look ‘natural’ and ‘concerned for the issues’.
They are the ones that bank-rolled the Tea Party group that presented itself as grass-roots and all that but was actually just a front for the Koch’s and their political network.
While promoted as a spontaneous “grassroots” movement, many of the activities of Tea Party groups were organized by corporate lobbying groups like Freedomworks and Americans for Prosperity.
The The Kosch Brothers have a long history of fucking up our government for their personal gain and goals. They even say as much themselves and make open goals to subvert our institutions.
https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2010/08/30/covert-operations
They are also recently implicated with the Russia-Trump scandal through their funding dishonest shell groups intent on spreading misinformation like the Judicial Crisis Network(JCN) which comes from The Wellspring Commitee which is a group founded by The Kosch Brothers , who btw come from Old Oil Money.
They hide behind all these companies and then play word games whenever anyone asks them directly about it.
They belong against the wall.
Red tape definition is – official routine or procedure marked by excessive complexity which results in delay or inaction.
Anybody have some examples of Trump abusing his power? My issues with his presidency are more about his politics and personality (twitter rants, unprofessionalism, and just making a joke of the office of the president) But I never felt like he blatantly went outside his authority to extract more power for himself, at least not in any way that other presidents have like using veto power to pass different bills (aka daca suspended unless the wall goes through) or executive orders (which ive been told are borderline unconstitutional but I’m not really sure tbh)
Edit: so many presidents have ABUSED power, my actual question is, has he done anything to make himself an all powerful tyrant or autocrat? Which is the vibe i get from the crown in the photo. It’s one thing to abuse power to stay in it or make money (which im completely not okay with obviously) but has he tried to take over as a tyrant?
Well, he probably can’t run, so it’s fine
Do you live under a rock?
We’ve never not. Take your shitty talking points back to Fox News.
So the sitting president is getting too much negative attention. Shouldn’t that say something?
How about the time he said we need to take all the guns away without due process
Who would you consider the “top politician”? A high office, if you so will. A position that everyone knows. So high, in fact, that it makes it’s occupant a worldwide celebrity above most others.
Someone so important, that anything pertaining to that person would garner a lot of upvotes on /sub/all .
Mhm. Can you think of one?
It’s so much worse than a lot of people realize. Before 2016, I had family members that openly worried that Obama would refuse to step down and would declare himself emperor. Fox News does vast damage to the way people perceive reality in the US. And is steadily gotten worse since 9/11. I don’t even know what world they’re living in now, because it’s just not real in any way I can see.
And suddenly the left cares about the constitution. Right.
He’s such a tyrant that 90% of the news media and a decent proportion of his “subjects” have absolutely no fear of mocking him in public and attacking his supports as well.
Such a tyrant that State Governments will openly defy his executive orders and actively work to thwart him and investigate him as closely as possible to try and uncover wrongdoing.
Yeah bro, clearly he’s becoming a king.
Please, your histrionics are doing a disservice to the people now, currently, who are living under actual tyrants that they can’t even speak out against for fear of reprisal.
While I disagree, I admit that this is a really clever depiction of your point. Upvoted despite opinion.
Wikipedia
An editorial cartoon, also known as a political cartoon, is a drawing containing a commentary expressing the artist’s opinion. An artist who writes and draws such images is known as an editorial cartoonist.
They typically combine artistic skill, hyperbole and satire in order to question authority and draw attention to corruption, political violence and other social ills.
Curious if “political humor” always has to be negative?
Going by the Wikipedia definition: Questioning authority and drawing attention to ills is, by it’s very nature, antagonistic.
You can’t think of anything? Just this past week he revoked the security clearance of a former CIA director who criticized him (and could possibly help in the case against Russian election interference). That’s a pretty blatant abuse of power. But he’s been testing the waters on pardon power and has some high profile cases like the travel bans, and then he’s got a long list of minor offenses, whether it be using the security loophole to enact tariffs or ignoring sanctions on Russia or bullying the media and attacking free speech. That’s not to mention the shady bs we’re not in the clear on, from his hotels getting money from foreign govs to his attempts at obstructing the Mueller investigation. He’s also doing all the borderline stuff you already mentioned.
Maybe someone from /sub/politics has a running timeline of all the unconstitutional actions he’s done, but even off the top of head it feels like a dizzyingly long list.
So you’re just going to condescendingly act like you could easily provide an example instead of actually doing it.
Multi-year, -100 comment karma accounts, too pls.
If you’re serious, “red tape” comes from the ribbon used to bundle legal documents. If you look at pleated folders, the string you wind around the pins to keep it closed is usually red.
Not surprising considering Clay Bennett created this cartoon. He’s a legend and has won a Pulitzer for his work.
That’s where I find this the slightest bit inaccurate. See, that would imply that he did any work whatsoever.
Should be more like a pre-folded Burger King Kids Club crown.
General corruption and blatant nepotism?
Considering the current WH, what do you expect? Would you like to make fun of Ford falling down the stairs, Carter’s altruism or bring up Benghazi?
Lot of 1 year old or less accounts with very low karma scores defending trump in here..
The Russian troll farm brigade is real.
They will blame the next president pre-emptively for whatever insidious shit they are afraid they’re about to be investigated for.
It’s a Karl Rove thang.
I think it would have been better with kid-safe scissor.
The safety scissors are a clever touch.
FDR intered American citizens in camps in the California desert without due process or suspicion of any crime, seized and redistributed their property without compensation
Every military conflict since WW2 that occurred without a formal declaration of war from Congress
/sub/im14andthisisdeep
He has appointed 2 Constitutional originialists to the SCOTUS, but edgelords won’t care…
He doesnt care what the people want and he uses his power to benefit the rich such as himself so when hes no longer presodent he can profit largely. Perfect example of an evil dictator.
I don’t understand why youre getting downvoted. You’re just literally asking for example
Usually the jokes on here are subpar and the threads are tame but this good one seemed to hit a nerve. Trolls are here in swarms.
All the media will then invite on the people they now claim to have no respect for to give their “opinion” of the new Prez, and take it seriously.
I think the Democratic platform should include a promise to break up the media empires even before the banks. The truth is worth a whole lot more then money. With the truth you can do everything else.

There’s a lot.
We don’t talk about that here, this is a one way street brother.
That was basically the 2016 election; the GOP spent eight years redrawing districts and suppressing voters to get back in, and then Trump wandered in at the last minute and took it.
When have they not?
Feel free to give me a list…
I wish we weren’t trapped in a living nightmare where a lying, mobbed up reality TV star was elected president. It’s funny how both sides aren’t equal that way.
Guys, you really suck balls. All you gotta do is stop sucking them balls, and everybody will like you again.
